Good Start for Mixed 1 Team – Summer 2016

Sunday April 10 saw a good start to the Summer Season for our Mixed 1 team with a narrow victory over local rivals Catford Wanderers by 3 1/2 rubbers to 2 1/2. On a bright but blustery afternoon, first pair Diane Day and Adam Bixby won their first round match 6-2 6-3, second pair Sophie Day and Clive Richardson won their first set 6-2 but were beaten 3-6 in the second to draw the rubber – which would prove to be conclusive – and third pair Judy Peel and Ales Vochyan won 6-3 6-4. The visitors had the better of the second round, Sophie and Clive losing 2-6 3-6 and Judy and Ales losing by the same score, but Diane and Adam were 6-3 6-1 victors to give Chislehurst a hard-fought win!
