Leave It to the Ladies!

The last full week of May was one of mixed fortunes for our various team, but finished with a resounding triumph for the Ladies team!

Tuesday evening saw the Ladies Veterans battle with gridlocked traffic to reach Gravesham late and lose a truncated match. Wednesday saw Diane Day and Clive Richardson travel to Bexley for a North Kent Cup mixed match, going down 2-6, 0-6 in early afternoon to a strong home pair, then Clive was off to join the Mens team at Wickham Park on a grey and damp evening. Marc Belben and Clive lost narrowly to the first pair and heavily to the second pair, Ales Vochyan and James Milanovic had slightly more success and Ben Cunliffe and Bryan Forbes drew their first round as the home team won by 4 1/2 to 1 1/2.

Thursday, and Mixed 2 away at Catford- Diana Guthrie and Ales Vochyan won both their rubbers, Holly and Ben Cunliffe and Chikako and Bryan Forbes each drew one round in a 3-3 drawn match.

Sunday, and an epic battle for the Ladies team, Sophie Day and Sue Sheen AND Diane Day and Diana Guthrie both fighting back from a set down to win their first round games in Champions’ Tie Breaks, and both winning their second round games in straight sets to achieve a notable 4 – 0 victory over a strong Park Langley team!
